CREATION OF "McCAFE™" GLOBAL SUCCESS AT McDONALDS

McDonald's is the global leader in the Fast-Food industry but in 2006 their customer transactions (sales worldwide, especially Europe) were flat. McDonalds’ account for 32% of all Coke syrup sold worldwide. The facilitation of a three-day Innovation and Six Thinking Hats session with McDonalds and Coke Account Managers from Austria, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Slovakia resulted in the creation of the "McCafe."

 

The focus area was "How to increase customer transactions and the dollar amount of these transactions worldwide." Sessions were held in southern Spain and Vienna. The concept was a global success, offering specialized adult menu items in a contemporary setting within McDonald's stores. Sales increased significantly and almost 20 years later the “McCafe” is still wildly successful.

SUCCESSFUL PRODUCT LAUNCH OF MOTOROLA "ACCOMPLI" DEVICE

We used Six Thinking Hats for the Product Creation and Product Launch of the “Accompli,” an ultra, high-tech handheld communication device at a competitive price. Day 1 was for Product Managers to get a detailed understanding of the target market and consumer traits including: age, income, educational background, cultural beliefs and daily habits. 

 

Day 2 was a “technology soak” including how consumers would use the device from the time they woke up to the time they went to bed. A dissection of the consumer’s day hour by hour was facilitated to ensure the “Accompli” was the ideal product for the target market. We successfully introduced the Motorola “Accompli” in North America, Europe and Asia.
